China International Cotton Textile Conference
(China Textile Resources Market Conference' 2013)
2012 witnessed over 45 million tons of fibers processed on streamline in China’s textile industry, and this fiber processing volume accounts for more than 50% of the world total. Out of these mill consumptions, the natural fibers added up to about 10 millions in tonnage, including 440,000 tons of wool and 800,000 tons of bast fibers. The official statistics also showed a peak production of man-made fibers for 37 million tons, with about 13 million tons of staple fibers in its totality.
China exported 262.6 billion dollar worth of textiles and apparel last year, representing 36% of the global share, shipping out textiles at $102.4 billion, and apparels at $160.2 billion, to be more exact. In 2012, China became the world largest country in fiber production and processing, also the largest country in textile and apparel trade.
Nevertheless, China is a significant importer as well, providing the global yarn suppliers with its growing market demand, driven by a huge price gap in its domestic cotton deal vis-à-vis international offer. Last year, China imported 1.53 million tons of cotton yarn, outnumbering its export of 450,000 tons in this category. Amid this import momentum, the price of staple fibers in the man-made fiber industry has got mired at a persistent downtrend since Sept. in 2011, as impacted by international oil price, up and down, making it difficult to forecast the price trend.
To better understand supply/demand relationship against the present market uncertainties, to employ varieties of textile resources more efficiently, strengthening R & D for emerging trend in market consumption, China National Textile and Apparel Council has decided to hold China Textile Resources Market Conference in Nanjing on June 3-4, 2013 with the details given below:
